George Stowell Architects Urban Design
Pitzhanger Manor is a Grade 1 Listed building and West London's largest and most successful contemporary art gallery. Designed originally by Sir John Soane and George Dance it was lived in by Soane between 1801 and 1810. Arguably the best British Architect of the early C19th, Soane created a spirited and unique addition Dance's original house from the 1750's. The internal rooms formed a model for much of Soane's later architectual language including his final home, now The Soane Museum in London. Pitzhanger is set within the original Soane estate of Walpole Park that since the early C20th has belonged to the Borough of Ealing. Both the house and estate are in need of a new vision to enable them to meet the needs of users in the C21st. George's role in the Stakeholder team is to: - support Council officers to select the consultant team - support officers and councillors on strategic project approach - advise on design team proposals and options appraisal - provide feedback to the Council on design team performance - give architectural and contextural information
