Mixed use residential + commercial development incorporating 3No x B1 units and 9No residential units with basement car parking and residents’ storage accessed via a vehicle lift. The building is constructed with a large span RC + steel frame with an external envelope comprising an geo-textile stretched skin incorporating organic growing medium which nurtures various forms and species of climbing and flowering plants. The envelope provides solar shading and visual privacy/screening to the external balconies for the occupant’s benefit, whilst also creating an enhanced sense of visual amenity or interest for the inhabitants of the adjacent Neckinger Mills building. Overall the architectural design and engineering is predicated on a strong ethos of environmental responsibility, low and renewable energy usage, sustainable construction methods and predictable future use patterns. Compliant with Level 5; Code for Sustainable Homes.
