Project Profile
Antony House

Pembury Place, for the Peabody Trust, is a development of 30 units of shared-ownership accommodation on the site of a former construction compound in Hackney. A narrow and overlooked site, deep balconies have been provided, with full height glazing protected by mesh screens, helping to balance the conflict between the need for openness, daylight and air and overlooking.

The open-plan living and dining area is dual-aspect permitting natural cross-ventilation, with bedrooms situated along the eastern elevation so as to benefit from the morning sun.

A retractable screen between the living room and bedroom allows the space to be re-configured to provide a large heat-trap. Sliding doors between the bedroom and living room and the balcony can be opened simulateneously to create a large multi-purpose living space.

The project went to site in December 2005 and is due for completion in 2007.
